Richard Yang

Rich is Managing Partner and co-founder of 618 Ventures, where he leads investments in medical devices, wearables, and digital health.  He is a medial technologist and named inventor in over 25 medical device and sensor patents issued in the US.  He has been a keynote speaker at leading global mobile health, consumer electronics, and med tech conferences, and a visiting lecturer at leading business schools including Harvard Business School.  Rich also serves as an active advisor to international tech companies.


Prior to 618 Ventures, Rich held leadership roles at Dexcom (which he helped turnaround and grow over 100x from a $80M to $10B+ market cap), MiniMed (acquired by Medtronic), KMI (acquired by Integra Life Sciences), Karl Storz Endoscopy USA, and Pegasus Biologics (acquired).  During his decade-long tenure at Dexcom, Rich contributed to the integration of medical technologies with consumer electronics, including wearable sensors and mobile health applications designed for chronic disease management which led to collaborations with Apple, Qualcomm, Edwards Life Sciences, leading Big Pharma companies, and the US Olympic Team.  Rich has expertise in areas including Diabetes, Health Information Technology, and Neurosurgery, and commercial operations experience in the US, EU and Asia Pacific markets.

 

Rich earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the Ayala School at the University of California, Irvine.
